Sometimes numbers seem to be more important than wine in the SA wine industry IMO.
Top wineries in WA, NSW and Victoria were often started by doctors, lawyers as labors of love. Large volume processing plants are rare away from the bulk winemaking areas in these states.

What I like about the article is the sense it conveys that a restoration and resurgence is afoot for some of the old names in the Australian wine industry.
