Christmas Lunch Melbourne CBD - recommendations?

Post by Waiters Friend »

G'day

We're looking for somewhere for lunch in the CBD on Christmas Day - that isn't a buffet. We strongly prefer a la carte. We'd appreciate some recommendations - our internet research is not proving fruitful.

Cheers

Get thee to the Lake House in Daylesford. That’s where we’ll be!

It's an abstract idea, but Cuttlefish's suggestion is rock solid.

Not so far from Melbourne, and Alla Tasker and staff are about as good as it gets - an unforgettable Christmas pretty well guranteed.

Thanks to both of you for the Daylesford suggestion - a very good one - however, 2.5 hours each way to get there by train / bus makes it an unlikely option.

Daylesford been on my Victorian 'hit list' for ages, but I would make it an overnighter.

Cheers

Yep, I back Cuttlefish to the hilt here.

Key words: quality, and memorable.

If not possible, understood. I'll keep an eye and ear out this week - must admit, I've never paid attention:(

Room is $1007 per night for two
There are no vacancies for Christmas lunch or dinner that I could find.
I can buy a lot of great wine and food on that budget!

Bergarac is excellent! Great suggestion oz.

Not in the cbd, but Mercers in Eltham do an amazing xmas lunch and would be my pick for people out east, north/east.

Bistro Thierry in Hawksburn does a fantastic Xmas lunch. Always booked out 6 months in advance, but at this late stage there might have been cancellations, so worth checking.
