The Seppelt St Peters Shiraz 2002 scored trophies for Best shiraz, Best red wine and Best Table wine of the show.

Some of the judges comments are very interesting, many mentions of brett and H2S faults.
I bet all St Peters bottles will be empty by the time the non-trade tasting starts at 6pm today! Thanks to my friend John (a show steward) I will again be lining up this evening to taste as many reds as I can in two hours and try not to splash too much red wine on the un-thinking people who wear white slacks and stand right next to the spit buckets....

Extra supplies of the 2002 St Peters failed to arrive in time for the tasting, so we all missed out 
The two wines I can still taste are both Cabernet-dominant, the 2000 Balnaves Tally Cabernet and the 1998 Yalumba The Reserve Cab-shiraz, thanks Ric for talking me into buying The Reserve.
Weirdest finding was the Orlando St Hugo 1994, it scored 37 points, oxidised, mercaptens, horrid. I had two from my cellar lined up for a wine dinner Saturday night, it was in fine form with years ahead of it when I tried one from my cellar last year, perhaps I had better choose a replacement to be safe.
Good news for die-hard Penfolds fans, the 2002 Bin 389 is a welcome return to form, it scored 55.5, one of 3 Golds in a strong class, with the same points as the 2002 Majella Malleea. The 2001 Bin 389 in the same class scored 43.0, below a bronze.
Time to go scrub my tongue and fingers...

Always amazed at people who wear light coloured clothing to tastings. It also seems they are attracted to stand near to the spitoons located around the floor.
I'm always in black or dark blue denim strides and dark red or black shirts. No spitoon splashes on me!

I do hope to get my butt into gear to post some impressions from the Qantas WA wine show tasting of the 50 top pointed wines. I managed to get a hint of most of them, but no real notes. Overall, impressed with more of the whites than reds, though still some fantastic cabs.

Not surprised at the Tally or the Yalumba, both are damn fine wines.
Re the St Hugo, I served one (double blind) a few months ago to Gorman's traveling 3 ring circus and it was the wine of the lunch.
Re the St Peters, now what did I say in February about the way that wine was going? Also no surprise. Its stunning!
