TN: 2007 Mike Press Wines Adelaide Hills Shiraz

Post by n4sir »

2007 Mike Press Wines Shiraz, Adelaide Hills (screwcap): 14% alc. Very dark, almost inky red colour, still with some purple at ten years of age. Inky and earthy, blackberry, violets, black olive, menthol and tea rose, mocha and vanilla from the oak adding spice without taking over the wine; the palate is medium to full-weight at most and still has that bright acidity that marks Mike’s wines, along with fine, grippy tannins that result in a long minerally finish, like black cherries crushed on quartz rock. Lovely balance and great drinking now, but it’s still just a baby - it should be good for at least another ten years on this form.

Mark, I paid $11 for the 2012...would this mean that an 07 is well under $10.
Its in the last 2-4 years that these wines have really taken off...plus JH seems to adore them.
Cheers
