Food matchup with Muscat

Post by Bob Parsons Alberta »

Hi everyone-----this is my first posting on this forum and have been a lurker for quite a while. I always enjoy the goodwill shown here--so far!
We have a great selection of Oz wines here in Alberta and my cellar contains some v. nice stuff. Apart from the reds, I am always on the lookout for Verdelho and Viognier.
Question: Can anyone suggest a good food/dessert matchup for Muscat? Chocolate mousse was mentioned in the UK but I thought I had beter come to you guys for some imput. Any suggestions welcome!

I drink a lot of muscat just by itself! But chocolate goes well, as do a wide variety of nuts (especially almonds) and even ice cream. If you have a particualr food in mind you can check out its suitability on Tesco's Food and Wine Page, or Peter Lehman's Food & Wine Matcher.

Muscat match

Hi

I am fairly new too, enjoying the company here.

Try a good Sticky Date Pudding with caramel or butterscotch sauce (not to much sauce), with a dollop of King Island double cream (or, of course, your local equivalent). A strong black coffee alongside can help too.

... as enjoyed with a Seppelts muscat a couple of months ago @ CBD, Perth.

Cheers

Ice Cream is fantastic with it. In fact you can even pour a little muscat or Tokay over a good vanilla ice cream and it's rather nice, to say the least.

Sticky date pudding and most rich puddings like that are also an excellent choice. Chrismas pudding or cake is wonderful.
Cheers,
Kris

Anything who says anything other than chocolate is a bloody heathen. But then I would eat chocolate for breakfast given half a chance. :)

... Hold the phone ...... chocolate won't go with by big reds of breakfast so its back to the muesli.
