Deep purple in colour with red tinges.
The nose is extremely complex, with Christmas cake, stewed red fruits, vanilla, cloves, polished leather, and a myriad of other aromas intertwined. The palate is full bodied, with grippy but integrated tannins, and the Christmas cake flows down the length of the palate. Long finish.
Not surprisingly, at 33 years of age I don't think this is going to get any better, but it is still well inside its drinking window now and should hold for a few years yet.
