2001 Domaine A Stoney Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Coal River (cork): 13.5% alc. Medium to darkish red/garnet. Heavily developed, volatile and tarry, sour red berries, vegemite and burnt tobacco, menthol, some barnyard and boot polish; the palate’s just as tarry and soupy/meaty, the finish the highlight of the wine which is long and soft. My last bottle, cellared in perfect condition since release, perfect fill level and cork; not sure if this was premoxed or the wine was just simply past it?
