1998 Domaine Prieur Brunet 1er Cru Santenay, Clos Rousseau (cork): 13.5% alc. Dark gold with a light amber tinge. Tight and minerally to begin, delicate wildflowers, honey, a little hazelnut, the fruit slender and lemony, a touch of vanilla custard and hazelnut with breathing. The palate has lost weight over the years, it’s now slender but the acidity is soft enough for it to retain some sort of balance, the finish of crisp apple juice on the short side. Right at the end of its best drinking window now.
