Folks, we still need to pick a venue. How about Choi's? Very easy to get to on public transport from the city. Plenty on the menu to complement Rhone style wines. Let me know your thoughts.

We still have a spot available, Jamie. It's yours. We'll be tasting blind, so please mask your bottles.

If anyone else would like to come, please let me know and I'll put you on reserves,

Thanks Ozzie. I have minor surgery and will be hanging about Melb for the week so I'm quite looking forward to the offline.

I hope I already haven't given too much away if blind? I can swap those bottles about moving further south down the Rhone. But I will definitely bring foreign stuff as checking local pricing you'd have to be a lotto winner to drink the less well known, yet higher end Rhone gear.

Looking forward to meeting you, Jamie. It'll be good to finally put a face to the name.

Anything from Northern or Southern Rhone is fine. I'm sure whatever you bring will be fantastic.

So, a week to go. A Rhone style wine from the new world - would need to be cool climate for starters to get Rhone spice ? Craiglee is my model for that. Others ?

Warm climate fruit tends to head into the rich plummy spectrum which isn't Rhone-like.

Ok so New World . I hope to get to ADL cellar before the dinner but if I don't I bring some Rhone wines from HKG .

Does the restaurant have spittoons? Hate to be rude but I have day surgery Monday for kidney stone so may not be drinking heavily

Might be misunderstanding me Jamie. I am not saying bring new world, in fact I'd prefer all old world. What I am saying is if anyone does bring new world I reckon it needs to be cool climate, not Barossa for example.

And we always have a tip bucket on the table.

Ok great . I still hope to get to ADL cellar prior to get wine less travelled.

The only Chinese restaurant we actually have a coffee at. Not as good as Ozzie's Rancilio Silvia though.

Haha Chinese ..... I love Chinese food with Aussie produce .

I opened one wine not corked so won't worry about checking the other . I was going to briefly decant but Melbourne water didn't seem so pure to rinse out friends decanter.
