Interesting read fr Ric's site.
JH - over the years seems to favoured big wineries and those SC related. Most of the time he exercise too much of diplomacy and sometime 'wine-politics"
JO - until today I can't calibrate da man's palate. 2 wines that gave me tremendous pleasure was a Cyril'94 & J.Hill Georgia'99 which garnered 16+ pts. I guess he prefered elegant(wimpy)and those that last till the cows come home.
CM - I like his poetic TNs & literature like coverage behind the scene. Reading wine-front can never be boring. Keep up the good work!!!
TORB - I simply adored this fella becos "the best thing in life r free"(being a cheapo) Extremely up to date on his wine-news and lately the content on his site has improve tremendously. Definately not a fence sitter but man who dare to speak his mind and never afraid of any debate. Like a good bt. of red, his notes are neither fined nor filtered.
Cheers,
MC

I do agree that Campbell Mattinson does have a way with words. I especially like his description of shiraz. But he doesn't write tasting notes like this. But then is it a tasting note?
The writer, Terry Theise, does review German wines and you can read some more here. I don't get too much out them but then.............

I had not heard of Mattinson until TORB'S note, but I have since subscribed and now had the chance to read a few of his Winefront Monthly editions. I have to say, it is a huge leap higher in quality than I was expecting. I enjoy it very much. I never thought I would enjoy an article on corks versus stelvins so much!
just me 2 cents.
