Grand Final Drinking?

Post by JamieBahrain »

I'm sitting in the Southern Stand with a Carlton Draught option . Hope you are all drinking well today.

Every Bulldog finals campaign for the last 20 years I've stood up some 54's ( our only GF victory ) including the first Henscke Mt Edelstone. I've realized this a curse so drinking beer only today.

Enjoy the game and Go Doggies!!!

I hope Bulldogs get up. Would be great to see; love their game style.

a couple pre game beers, few choices of 2016 Clare Rieslings, mulling over what red to pull out for dinner at the moment.

Had a 2004 Burge Family Draycott with your Dad Jamie. Beautiful wine and I wish I had of taken 2 bottles. Then a 2008 De Bortoli Estate Shiraz Viogner (had to have a Victorian wine), but the Viogner was too prevalent for me. Too sweet and too much apricot. This was better young.

Great game and the best side on the day won. The Doggies did it the hard way too, beating West Coast in Perth then the reigning premiers, then GWS in Sydney. Amazing effort. I was worried when they were struggling to hit a target in the forward 50, but the whole backline were excellent. Still think Dale Morris should have won the Norm Smith. Beverage's giving his medal to Murphy almost bought a tear to the eye as well.

Cheers
Ian
If you had to choose between drinking great wine or winning Lotto, which would you choose - Red or White?

The Bob Murphy moment caused many a tear in my local pub.

Best GF I can recall since 89, that was top shelf sport, and a feelgood win for the ages.

And supporting the workers at CUB, the pub stopped buying from them weeks ago, so it was Coopers Pale all game long - most excellent win/win!

A pretty great result all around.
It is so much easier to avoid CUB beers these days, at least outside of the MCG. There are so many other options now.

2001 St Hugo Cab Sav was uncertain whether to post under this thread or "what r u drinking" - being sports illiterate, however being a hobbit & coming from the shire - what can I say - Go Sharkies
A nice wine, Cedary oak, tannins all but disappeared, blackberries/dark red fruits. Enjoyable - drinking well now, not going to get any better, drink up.

Under the weather this weekend so I didn't drink a drop, but what a weekend of sport. Footscray getting up in the AFL, the Sharks getting up tonight and Riccardo winning in Malaysia in the F1.

Could not get any video of it here in USA so listened to ABC radio. Sounded like a great game. Reminds me of my childhood when we didn't have TV. The commentators were really excited and slightly biased towards the Doggies and why not. I think many shed a tear when they won. Perfect theme for a cult movie? Enjoyed a Glenlivet 12 Year Old SMW during the game.

Jamie, please tell us what you celebrated with. I'm already salivating.
