TN: 2011 Moss Wood Ribbon Vale Cabernet Merlot

Post by n4sir »

2011 Moss Wood Ribbon Vale Vineyard Cabernet Merlot, Margaret River (screwcap): 14% alc. Medium to very dark red/garnet. Rather tight and charred/smoky at first, opening up to reveal pastilles and sour jubes, cedar, ash, menthol and less appealing vegetal characters. The palate’s medium-weight, jubey, minty and meaty, with gravelly tannins mid-palate running through to the black olive finish, which seems to have a touch of minty heat and bitterness and gets much more sour with breathing. I expect a lot more from Moss Wood, even at this level.
