d'Yquem 1893
Was this a good year? I'm fairly sure that Mrs CE will not allow me to buy it - but I can dream (and I bought a lottery ticket for tonight, just in case).

There's a Skunk Anansie song from mid 1990s. The chorus goes:
I can dream
I can dream
I can dream that I'm someone else
In this case, you're an extreme optimist. If you actually get the Lotto win, please invite me to join you in the 1893 D'Yquem. I'll gladly jump on a plane.
Cheers

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

My understand is they had real problems with Stelvin caps with this vintage.
Re: d'Yquem 1893
On a serious note, if you wanted to drink a phenomenal dessert wine from that era.
The seppelts paras from around then are worth considering. Prices are hefty, but the Grape Mate crew in Syd split the cost of a couple of bottles (1888 and 1908) from memory. And it was worth every penny.
The 1888 was beyond anything I could have expected. Absolute freak show.
Put a crew together and get into it

We've had the 1912 and that was pretty nice. But bottle aged and barrel aged are different beasts altogether.

Tasted a 1929 Chateau Doisy Daene (sauterne) at a wine tasting the other day - it was superb, and still very fresh!
