A.Rodda 2014 Tempranillo

Post by Waiters Friend »

G'day

This is from the Aquila Audax vineyard in Beechworth Victoria, planted in 1997 at 580m above sea level. Decanted 15 minutes before service.

Colour is deep purple. The nose has taken a little time to emerge, and shows dried herbs, cola, leather, black cherries and cranberry. The palate is interesting - only just medium bodied, with moderate tannins and reasonable acidity. It finishes cleanly, with medium length and the wine is fruit dominant.

I was expecting something bigger, but this is hitting the spot quite nicely, without being overly demanding or rich. Pizza time!

Cheers
Allan
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
