Forest Hill Riesling 2008

Post by Waiters Friend »

G'day

I returned to Forest Hill last weekend, after about a 6 year absence. The restaurant has re-opened (as Pepper and Salt) after an absence, and lunch was long and delicious.

Nearly 2 dozen of the wines also made it into the car boot. They included some back vintages of their excellent Riesling (the Estate Riesling, in this case, but I also got some Block 1 Riesling). This is the 2008.

Yellow gold in colour. Lemon / lime on the nose, with a touch of cordial. Also, some lemon blossom, orange peel and grapefruit. The palate shows more of these characters, with a touch of viscosity, and cleansing acidity. Good length and line, and with plenty of life left.

I got some 2005s as well, and will crack one shortly

Cheers
Allan
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
