My first broken Zalto

Post by Phil H »

Being a recent convert to the Zalto Universal, I knew the day would one day come. As if in slow motion - toppling onto the bench (fortunately empty), the stem breaking close to the glass.
Pondering on the possibilities - the main body intact. After about 20minutes in my man shed - lightbulb moment. Using the plastic nozzle from a silicone caulking tube, cut to size, blue tack to stabilise and seal, followed by filling with Araldite, and main glass body placed on top.
Happy with my "recycling" effort, showing my better half, "why did you bother, haven't you got plenty of other glasses?" Reply - "Yes, but they are not "Zaltos", received a blank "whatever" glance before walking off.
Anyhow - for those interested in resurrecting you're special weekend glasses, to weekday quaffing glass, maybe an option.
(Hopefully photo link works - haven't posted a photo for a while)

Haha that's classic, great job.!
In 12 months of owning zaltos I have only broken 1. Compare to my old glass ware I'd brake 2 - 3 per year. Mainly around the sink cleaning up. Zaltos don't mind a good tap against the sink where as others don't

Rather amusingly Photobucket make an assumption about the likely content of photos, when trying to flog photo-related merchandise. I rather like the idea of the repaired Zalto taking selfies in various tourist destinations :D

There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

Genius. It would be a lot stronger now. I'll have to remember that fix.

Cheers

If you had to choose between drinking great wine or winning Lotto, which would you choose - Red or White?

Great idea...although half of the enjoyment of the Zalto is how light it feels and how it feels when you hold it...

But still - Brilliant way to recycle this...
