Capel Vale Whispering Hill Riesling 2009

Post by Waiters Friend »

G'day

Moderately developed pale yellow in colour. The nose is no longer brimming with limes, and starting to show a hint of kero and honey. The limes are starting to become cordial-like. There's also some talcum and florals, maybe lemon blossom.

The palate has some delicacy. There's some lime juice, but not intense, and the acid flows cleanly and in a line along the palate. The slight honeyed taste complements these flavours, and the finish is clean and quite long.

This might be just coming out of the 'dumb' phase that many Rieslings go through, and another 12-24 months might find this wine a little more 'together'.

Cheers

Hello

Following on from the last look at this wine 18 months ago, the colour hasn't shifted much at all - still pale-medium yellow. Kero is very faint as it honeyed development. Lemon has overtaken lime, and the florals and talcum remain.

The palate remains delicate, and has not filled out much. It's clean and pure with lemon / lime, with a slight richness on the long finish.

These are pristine Rieslings, and given how this is looking at 7 years of age, I get the impression they will go 20+. Certainly no rush to drink these up.

Cheers
