TN: 2002 Sevenhill Clare Valley Riesling

Post by n4sir »

2002 Sevenhill Riesling, Clare Valley (screwcap): 12.5% alc. Light yellow. Opens with bright brown limes, sugared biscuits, talc and just a whiff of kerosene and (intruigingly) cracked white pepper in the background, freshening up with breathing to reveal sweeter lemon blossom, vanilla pod and lanolin. The palate structure is delicate and pristine, long, lingering and elegant; at a mere 14 years of age this beauty has a long, long way to go.

The wine certainly does not look its age, so light and young looking, and your notes are so inviting. Aussie Rieslings age so well that I am loathe to open any bottles until it's at least 15 years old.

I had a 2007 Sevenhill Cellars St Aloysius Riesling recently and it was stunning. Must keep an eye out for their wines.
