Pol Roger dinner at Marque, Sydney Thursday 9 October

Post by David Lole »

NOTE MY ERROR FROM ORIGINAL POST - 9TH NOT 16TH -

4 PLACES LEFT!

Anybody interested in joining Christian Pol Roger at this supposedly excellent restaurant for a meagre 150 big ones :?: The only pitfall - I'll be there too. Ring Jason on 02 - 92112380 if you're interested. I believe Mr. Pol Roger will be serving some back vintages of note. Sounds unbelievably good value to me. If you're coming, let me know or just introduce yourself on the night.

As of this moment, I believe numbers are very limited. :(

Hope some of you frog-loving fizz fiends can make it :!:

I always go to these dinners when Christian comes to NZ and they are always fantastic. Lovely dinner with excellent champagne. Usually the bottomless NV White foil with canapes to start whilst waiting to be seated then into the vintage wines, Rose's and Sir Winston Churchill to finish. All the while Christian gives little talks about the wines and anecdotes from his life drinking and selling champagne. Don't miss out on this one.

I was just at Marque on monday night for the hats off dinner. It was $120 and then $65 for matched wines on top (all french) so $150 for wine included is quite the deal.

Note that it just got promoted to three hats from two. I was quite surprised myself. Its a strong two hatter but I wouldn't have put it at three myself. I don't think its quite in the same league as Claudes and Tets but then, how would I know?

Unfortunately due to a complete budget blowout of late, I won't be joining you but if youhave the opportunity to have the croquette of fois gras, do not pass it up.

Kris.
Cheers,
Kris

Christian is a real charmer and a fantastic talker-have a look at his rosey red cheeks from drinking all that great wine.
He always carries a gold pen with him so if you are that way inclined take along a Pol Roger bottle and get him to sign it.
