Some back label information: "The Kenbrook Vineyard lies on a gravelly outcrop in Pickering Brook (in the Perth Hills and only a few kms from their cellar door). We have found more spicy and earthy characters expressed in fruit from this vineyard .....". This was a one-off wine made entirely from this fruit as a small batch experiment and won a gold medal and Chairman's Trophy at the 2012 Perth Hills Wine Show.
I can see why. I had a bottle a couple of years ago, and was very impressed and today's is no exception. Still deep crimson in colour. The nose is rich and complex, with licorice, dark fruits including blueberry and black plums, spice in the nutmeg spectrum, and moderate toasty oak. The palate is rich and full bodied, with the fruit flooding the palate on top of glycerols (14.6% alc), good supporting acid, and grippy tannins. It finishes long, but fresh, and will live for another 5 years at least. A shame it is my last bottle.
Cheers
Allan

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
