TN: 2003 Jeanneret Clare Valley Riesling

Post by n4sir »

2003 Jeanneret Riesling, Clare Valley (screwcap): 13.5% alc. Medium yellow/gold. It’s waxy and pithy on the nose, Bickfords brown lime cordial, a little lanolin and talc, a whiff of kerosene, banana cake and grated ginger way off in the far distance; the palate’s punchy and lovely, the acidity slowly building in the mouth, crunchy and puckery, the bright citrus fruit still there with some vanilla bean at first, then bacon fat, bluegum honey and smoke on the long finish. When this was released I liked it better than the much vaunted 2002 vintage; needless to say, I still do.
