Auswine Forum - what's changed and what's the same?

Post by Jay60A »

Changed
TORB left the forum, I know he's out there but I miss Ric's contributions
The 109 point scoring system seems to have gone out of fashion. Craig?
More offlines (which being in the UK I miss)
Auswine's low res picture in the top left corner
A weird preference for lower alcohol wines (he says sipping Hobbs Shiraz 2004 at 16%) 8)
A few more C-thru TNs than before
Serge got booted out here, like everywhere else ...

Stayed the same
The forum regenerated, lots of good people with different levels but all interested and rocking along
No wine snobbery or wine w*nkery
We all still complain about Penfolds prices EVERY year
A lot of great TNs and the place to learn from others
Lots of Shiraz

What did I miss?
“There are no standards of taste in wine. Each mans own taste is the standard, and a majority vote cannot decide for him or in any slightest degree affect the supremacy of his own standard". Mark Twain.

Missing
The weekly drinking thread (it's okay, I'm over it really)

Stayed the same
General bonhomie and goodwill
Occasional flashes of petulance/frustration/misinterpretation/disagreement/argument
Off-topic debates
Regular 'what fridge to buy' threads (Choice Magazine eat your heart out!)
Very occasional spam
Our Incredibly Gracious Host not checking his email regularly.... :D :D

Cheers

Michael
