Thanks to all who turned up. Great night.
WOTN for me was 1996 Mt. Mary Pinot Noir (biased I am)
followed closely by 1990 Petaluma Riesling and 1996 Penfolds Bin 707

would like to some new faces next time

cheers
Phill

Nice to catch up and the glassware was much better than I expected. Chinese- American style cuisine is always interesting too.

I really enjoyed the Petaluma 1990 Riesling though it could have been a wee colder. I drink a lot of Condrieu and though some are set up for aging even the best would struggle at 10 years. The Pinot bracket interesting and the 96 Mt Mary was a great old wine though I find them a little disjointed on the finish. Shame about the corked Volnay, the 1998 De Montille 1er Cru Les Rugiens Pommard magnum had its moments and demonstrated a need for more air. The two Barolos, the magnum of Brezza 1996 needed air too, would have been great today! This is their bog standard generic Barolo as they have some notable Cru vineyards in Cannubi and Sarmassa though quality inconsistent. The 03 Clerico was out there being a ultra-modernist and a ultra-ripe vintage. 1996 707 was excellent for the style and I found the 2002 Moss Wood clunky. Folks weren't happy with the Craggy Range and though I didn't detect taint perhaps it had a baking once upon a time.

Again, nice to see you all, I will be a regular visitor bringing in my wines from abroad and I'd be happy to up the ante in a future tasting.
