Hello

Hoping to get some great feedback for the Perthites on the forum!

Heading over to Perth May 23rd, for a few days. Lots of family stuff to do (sigh) but looking for some ideas for great spots to visit in the Perth CBD.

What are some great restaurants to visit, or great wine bars or other stuff we shouldn't miss ??? (Did I mention wine?)

We probably only have the one day to do what we love, so any ideas from you guys would be absolutely great!

Hang around Burswood for dining. Many great choices with healthy wine lists.
If only a spare day, take a swan river winery cruise up to the swan valley.

If you are after post work hours drinks in the CBD then try the Print Hall. Great wine list with fresh shucked oysters.

Ahem, surely enough Perthites could seriously consider a spontaneous offline for our esteemed forum host... n'est pas? Assuming that suits Gavin of course, perhaps not with the family emphasis mentioned...

If it helps motivation, I'm sure we AusWiners in Sydney would manage it easily.

For CBD options 1907 is in the heart (Shannon hosted a dinner there). Must is about 5 mins and Clarkes 20mins from CBD.

All very good options for dinner. Must would probably have the superior wine list.

I'd be happy to coordinate an offline on or around May 23.What date specifically do you have in mind? I believe 23rd itself is actually a Friday night, in which case I cannot join you.

One of the previous suggestions 'Clarkes' is a place I would be happy to revisit, but it is out of central Perth, so not sure if it would suit potential attendees. So, potential attendees - please let me know what suits.

I would be most interested in an offline at Clarkes. Their degustation is really a benchmark for Perth dining IMO.
They are recently now licensed however they do offer the flexibility of byo I'm pretty sure.

Really, just looking for ideas as above, places worth a visit for a great feed, some decent wine etc.

Gavin...where in Perth are you staying? That could influence things to some extent.

In the CBD, Print Hall (although haven't personally dined there) is meant to be good with an excellent wine list. The Terrace Hotel has a great wine list and equally good food. Somewhere more casual, but a personal favourite is Lamont's Wine Store in Cottesloe. (conveniently on the Fremantle train line). In Fremantle Bread in Common is pretty good too. Not fine dining. Just take a look at the various websites.

Must in Mt Lawley is good too. Food is excellent. My only gripe is it can be very noisy.

Have lived in perth for four years, and a good night for me would be:

A beer or two to start at the roof top bar Bob's Bar (on top of Print Hall)
Short walk to Balthazar, good ambience & wine list
Finish with a drink or two at Helvetica
