The shiraz malbec from 1919 plantings?
You got it in one Jamie.
Could this mean Tony is saving his malbec from the 02 vintage for a straight release in a few years time?
I seem to remember he bottled a malbec in magnums from the 1991 vintage but has yet to release this. Can anyone confirm?
cheers,
david M.
You may be correct David.
I recall Huon Hooke mentioning the 91 Malbec magnums in his book "Words on Wine".
The magnums a celebration botttling of 100 years of the winery ( 1893 plantings ).
Hooke suggested the magnums may comfortably see the bi-centenary celebrations!
Personally, I like straight malbec in a long living style. New Zealand's La Strada Fromm Reserve comes to mind.
A dearth of local straight malbecs.

Wendouree Malbec release
Hi David M,
I raised the 91 Malbec release with Tony Brady the other day and his plan is to release it only when its ready for drinking . That being his plan,I'd say a fair whack of us won't be around to see it!!
I didn't think to ask him about the absence of the Shiraz-Malbec from the current list. I'd say there probably wasn't enough of it (Malbec) to make the blend.

Price?
I hope i have sent this correctly, being a "lurker" for so long i have finally come out and this being my virgin post! I am also a virgin Wendouree mail order receiver this year and can someone please clarify the correct price of the Muscat of Alex? On the cover letter the price per bottle is $15, however on the order form its quoted as $18.
Cheers
Just checked - it was $18 last year. I stuffed it up this year!!!Justin B. wrote:Welcome Dean. Even the best experts get wine wrong all the time, so fear not.
I suspect the $18 is correct. I think it was that last year. Rest assured if the $18 was a misprint on the order form that you would not be charged $18.
Keep posting.
