A few of late,

Leasingham Bastion Cab 02

You can pick this up for $10 at present, its awesome value at that price. Quite varietal, currant, mint, herb, nice persistence and good structure, some grippy if slightly green tannin.

Kangarilla Rd Zin 02

Big and brash, plenty of alcohol but not too hot. A real hedonistic wine, not for the purists but juicy and ripe and a nice match for a ragout or some rich cheese.

Seppelt St Peters Shiraz 2000

Great wine. If it had "Chateau something or other" on the label it would be double the price( or more!). Great tannin structure, fine and mouth coating yet subtle, plenty going on,lots of character in this wine. Years in front of it.

Carrick Pinot Noir 02 ( NZ)

Mmmm. There seems to be a real divide in the 02 Otago pinot's. Most are walking the fine line of balance and varietal correctness with little room to move. This one appears to me to have just gone over the top in terms of ripeness and flavour. Very dark, alcohol showing through the dense dark cherry fruit on the nose. Again, very ripe in the mouth, with a distracting astringent character on the back palate follow through. I thnik it just needed a little less of everything. The Mt Difficulty 02 is a similar, though much better and more drinkable, wine.

Cheers
