Bad experience with vintec. Eurocave or Liebherr?

Post by smithys »

Hi guys,
I'm new to this site and fairly new to the wine collection game.
I recently purchased a Vintec single temperature unit, and after having enormous problems with the cabinets temperature regulation, and the absolute shocking customer service that ensued via Vintec, I have decided to move onto something more reliable.
Anyone got any opinions on whether I should go for a Eurocave or Liebherr?
I'm looking as purely a long term cellaring cabinet, around about the 150 bottle capacity.
Cheers

Hi, Smithys

I have had 2 Liebherr for almost 10 years and have had '0' problems! The only issue has been suppliers for filters( which I've only repaced once in the whole time). The other brands seem to be better marketer's but these wine fridges speak for themselves!

Hi
My Liebherr is going strong after 6 years and my Kitchener same after 8 years. Kitchener's insulation seems much better and the motor hardly runs for a lot of the year.

Hope this helps

Dear Smithys,

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with your Vintec cabinet & that you were not satisfied with our after-sales service. Our after-sales team is regularly commended for outstanding service, so your comments have been noted.

Having come across your post and read your comments with concern, I've immediately looked into your case.

It is my understanding that we had sent one of our technicians following your observation that there was a difference of a few degrees between the top and bottom levels of your cabinet and that the technician had effectively observed a 3 degree difference but confirmed that the cabinet was working properly.

Please note that the small temperature difference between top and bottom is a natural phenomenon in most climate-controlled wine cabinets, and more generally in most refrigerated appliances. This does not represent an issue for the safety or long-term cellaring potential of your wine – as long as the temperature remains in the “safe cellaring” bracket (8°-14°); your wine cabinet ensures the temperature inside the wine bottle remains very steady – which is what is most important for the preservation of your wine.

That being said, I can certainly understand you may have been concerned when observing this phenomenon. For this specific reason, our CEO contacted you personally, offering advice and various options so that you are able to choose how you would like to proceed (including the option of a full refund).

If I can be of any further assistance or can pass on any additional comments or feedback to our CEO and service department, please do not hesitate to PM me via the forum.

Kind Regards,
Tony

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the reply, and I appreciate your stance on the situation.

However, my issue arose after a temperature variation far exceeding the acceptable difference was observed, and the experience with the customer service process that ensued.

I would be happy to talk to you via other methods If you need further clarification, but I'm not going to go into more detail via a forum.

Hi Smithys.

A Private Message (PM) isn't seen by the forum at large, but is direct between two forum members. You may know this already, but thought I would clarify in case you missed the reference.

Cheers

Hi Michael,

I understood the PM reference, but was just giving Tony other options if he needed further clarification.

Most will have temperature variation from top to bottom.

I think Kitchener claim up to 6C from top to bottom on their big ones. (1600mm and higher)

My 3 Vintecs are still going strong with one replaced under warranty (delivered and faulty one taken away) so no problems with customer service from my perspective, shame they are so expensive. They used to do the Seconds and Discontinued Models every now and again but have not seen that for a while, just about the pull the trigger on one of the Kitchener ones myself so will let people know how that is.
