What an intriguing bouquet! A warm nose of that smelt of slightly perfumed soap prior to swirling; then cassis, chocolate, subtle cedar, even more subtle leafy notes and menthol.

The wine is well structured and balanced. Tannins are well integrated and slightly dusty, acid is not as sharp as it could be for such a young wine and the fruit weight is solid. Many Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignons take eight years to soften and reach their peak drinking window, this wont be one of them and it should be well and truly ready to be drunk fairly soon.

A flavoursome wine exhibiting mouth filling strong blackberry, chocolate and a most interesting tobacco taste at the tail end that lingers beautifully for a wine at this price point. Rated as Recommended with **** for value at $20. This is one thatÂ’s worth buying.

Did not get to try the 2000, but the 98 and 01 were terrific. Agree totally with Ric's note - lovely nose and great on the palate and we payed around $20 @ good customer rate.
