Hi all,
Bought this fr the 1st Wickman's auction. Due to the bidding frenzy I tot I overpaid($70+Comm.) but after the 1st sip, I'm fully convinced it's worth every single penny. This potent concotion is more satisfying than the Shirvington 2001 or any Henry's Drive Reserves.
Vibrant purple/black pigmented gycerol coating the glass as I swirled. The nose was a late starter but once it started firing(after 2hrs+) it send me to sheer esctasy. Extremely full body and ripe, this late picked liquer Shiraz was so dense (weighing in @ 16%) without being over the top(there's a fresh streak of aciditty to boot) The palate was "bombastic" with enormous structure, tannins were powdery fine and the flavours hitting out on all fronts and it persisted tight down to the back palate and finish with long after-taste.
Now I can understand why the Yanks goes crazy over this truly remarkable "Essence of Shiraz"
Rgds,
MC

Truth be told Martin I bought this straight from Sparky last year just to sample (3 x S2 and 3 x the 9) - haven't opened any intentionally although I did manage to break one in my cellar - incredible aromas filled the room and cant get the stains out!
