Actually having this tonight, been saving for my daughter's 21st., but I had to test whilst double decanting. A pale red in colour but absolutely gorgeous flavours. The fruit is hanging on and there is still acid present. It is the complete package for those that enjoy a fully matured wine.

Thanks for the TN Muscat Mike. Excellent way to celebrate a 21st. Happy birthday to your daughter.

Never had a Redman's in magnum but had plenty of it in 750ml, including the "claret" when I lived in Australia. Its not readily available here in the US, and I guess if the current releases are still refined, high acid wines they wouldn't suit the fruit bomb devotees. Pity!

I opened a 750ml bottle of this for my daughters 21st a few years ago and it was superb. The nose was amazing. Really intense - I could smell it quite clearly as I poured it into the decanter. Colour was a medium garnet with orange edges and the palate just delicious. A wine at its peak and very memorable.

I hadn't been expecting much but I was blown away.

Thanks for the TN Mike! I always see these at langtons and wonder where they come from and who buys them. You rarely see a TN anywhere so it was good to see.

Mike,

Redmans actually lost their way: from 1971-80 (+?) they were very good value and produced some well-made wines (more the CS than the "claret"/shiraz) but then appeared to have lost the plot.

I was never quite clear about when Owen & Bill stopped working with Lindemans Rouge Homme, and although their own brand was going from about 71, I have a feeling they still had input into Rouge Homme till about 73 (coincidentally the last decent vintage of that wine, notwithstanding it was a poorish year generally).

As for brother-in-law (?) Brands, early promise was never fulfilled and they remain a huge underachiever from Coonawarra IMHO.

PS when do we catch up?

Dinner last night.

At dinner last night the wine, Redman '80 C/S., showed up magnificently, even in the ordinary glassware provided.
Had to taste all my wines, would not like the guests to drink a bummer.
Petaluma 2003 Riesling- drinking well.
Giants creek 2001 Chardy -also good.
Magnum of Brown Bros. P/C, released for Millenium most enjoyable.
Hardys 1983 V/P - excellent way to finish the night.
