Good evening everyone,
Just curious what technique everyone uses to remove the wax seal from the top of bottles.
Tonight I'm trying to open a bottle of Rockford 1997 VP. The wax is thick and stuck hard'n'fast . I'm currently using a knife to scrape the wax off.
Is this the right technique please?
I think its only a matter of time before I cut myself!
I tasted this port at the Cellar Door and my mouth is watering with anticipation.
All comments would be most welcome.
Many thanks in advance,
Vickie

Vickie I had a similar problem with my recent vertical of Bass PHillip wines which are wax sealed. the best way is to simply insert the corkscrew through the wax and it comes out esy. No point trying to cut the thick wax off as you are more likely to cut yourself. Just put the corkscrew through it (and that is what the winery recommends too)!
