2017 Cherubino Cab Sauv.
From vineyards in the Wilyabrup sub region.

Really nice. Smooth, ripe but not over done. Intense flavours well handled. Length is above average.

The question needs to be asked of these producers is why they are still sticking tree bark in the bottle!!? :)

Cherubino ShirazMalbec.jpg 2018 Cherubino Shiraz Malbec. Riversdale Vineyard, Frankland River. A great vintage in these parts, and it shows in this wine. I just dont know why I dont have more Margaret River/Frankland River Shiraz, Cabernet and Chardonnay in my cellar. They are always outstanding. I...

Which one was best?
Neither, both a foil for the other.
Wantirna Estate was typically more elegant and perhaps more seamless, the Parker First Growth more darker fruits and power.

The greatest of all Aus whites? Hard to disagree.
I dont know f any other (maybe a Riesling) that could look so good at 22 years of age.
So much lemon, structure and power with lingering acidity.

Stunning

Stunning value. Very good on first night, really opened to a very aromatic intrigue on second night. Worth looking at the background of the Producer.

Yarra Yering No2.jpg Yarra Yering Dry Red No.2, 2015 Have been slowly purchasing Yarra Yering over the past year, as I think Sarah Crowe has lifted the brand back to where it should be. 2010 Petaluma Coonawarra.

The question you've got to answer about this monolithic Petaluma, is whether the oak will prevail, or the masses of fruit will.

Whilst I don't think it is out of balance, I've never drunk one with masses of averythin!

Cheers

2010 Hurley Loadstone. In my mind, the pinnacle Pinot producer on the Peninsula. Paradigm and Moorooduc right up there as well. Served blind you would not have picked it as 11 yo. Fresh, alive, complex, structured and that sweet/feminine middle palate Loadstone has. Sits so well between the Garamon...

2010 Wantirna Estate Amelia Cab/Merlot.

Elegant, earthy cassis aromas lead into a soft, elegant palate. Its' rounded and light on its feet, not showing it's age, but perhaps was expecting something with a tad more impact.
Still loverly tho!

Celebrating my youngest daughters 23rd birthday, so naturally a '98 was on the cards.Decided on the best wines possible!:) The Bin 0 was young, long and lovely. Coupla recent ones, both in outstanding condition. The Chambolle could even looked positively young. I have been drinking alot of local (Mornington Peninsula) Pinots lately. and needed this to remind me of how its all about structure.

2012 Yabby Lake Block 1 Pinot Noir Ok, controversial Jimmy Watson winner. 2012 produced some stunning long live elegant Pinot Noir on the Peninsula (have looked at full Hurley range, Paradigm, Moorooduc The Duck recently). Downie.jpg 2013 William Downie Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir If I am correct, this release was the first of his 50% stalk ferment Pinots. 2013 was a relatively hot vintage on the Peninsula, so I guess he saw the stalks pretty ripe. 2007 Tahbilk 1927 Vines Marsanne Pretty amazing considering its age, Lots of lemon rind, depth and acid, But so much acid, I wonder if the "added acid" was pretty hefty, and hasn't resolved. The flavours. complexity and length are seem to be overshadowed by the acid, Either that or it nee...

1990 Bin 389

A pristine bottle. In amazing condition, looked fresh and relatively youthfull. In a blind line up you'd guess maybe 10-15 years old.
Cork was in pretty good shape as well.

Allan,

A change of ownership in 2016 seems to have slightly changed the style from what you would see in the 2013 to the current 2018.

Black Label '03.jpg
2003 Wynns Black Label Cab Sauv.

Surprisingly fresh considering both it's age and the hot vintage.
Lovely integration, went well with the BBQ steak. Perhaps lacking the length of the great vintages, but pretty nice all up.
