Is it logical to assume that all the internationally renown varieties Australia grow are basically French because they bear the French names?
The only popular one that's not French is Riesling.

Hi Wizz I've been trying to get my hands on this wine. No chance - all have been snapped up. I reckon it's a lovely wine. Some facts about the unpopularity of Riesling. Doing good Riesling is like walking a tightrope to keep in balance - too much residual sugar you get a cloying sweet wine and too l...

Advice On Tasting Note
"lemon citrus and fresh strawberry flavours balanced with a soft, refreshing finish". Aren't citrus and fresh strawberry flavours always soft and refreshing? Or it meant balance between acidty and alcohol. If so, a low acidity, high alcohol Chardonnay is off balance. I thought a well-balanced wine w...

Will I Ever Find This Wine?
An OZ Riesling that's close or not better that the delicious, aromatic, fruity, off-dry, spicy food friendly, German Spatlese? One with 15~20gm (1.5~2% r.s.). I like fruity German riesling but deplore the price. Conversely, Oz Riesling is reasonably priced but without that hint of natural sweetness,...

Common tasting note for white wine (particularly New World Riesling): “On the palate, it has mouth filling richness of freshly squeezed lemon juice, full of fresh grapefruit and citrus vitality, crisp finish and perfect balance of acidity and vinified in the bone-dry styleÂâ€Â. Wh...

"we both guessed Riesling, 2002, Germany. I used to drink lots of Liebfraumilch back in a day, so this wine reminded me of it. One taster guessed it right of the bat: 2002 Dr. Burkin Wolf Riesling Pfalz" I must say that was a mere fluke because there is little or no resemblance between the two wines...

Need A Riesling Close-up Short As Wallpaper
Hi
Wonder if anyone has a close-up short of a bunch of riesling grapes. I wish to have one as wallpaper.
Living in a non-grape growing country like Singapore, it's impossible for me to take a snap short of the noble variety myself.
Regards
Ray

Big reds are just prostituting yourself for a buck&quo
If a wine is high in alcohol due to the natural sweetness of the grapes, I say it's perfect but if the excess alcohol is "created" by dosing, chaptaliztion or other means, a big NO! The must for the German trockenberenauslese for example is extremely high in natural sugar and yet the wine rarely exc...

Dry wine Suits Food Better - or Is It?
Why do most people reject mildly sweet wine but readily accept or even crave for sweet beverages like fresh fruit juices with meals? It seems that: food with sugar is ok but food with sugar plus alcohol is unpleasant or even offensive. Puzzled!
Thanks

Making Dry Whites Without Fermentation
Hi guys I think I have found a simple way to make a dry fruity wine. Just add alcohol to a fruit-flavoured Perrier. Fruit-flavoured mineral water has the nose of sweet fruits like peach and ripened apples but tastes completely bland. With the right amount of ethyl alcohol added, it turns into a deli...

Info. About Aussie Riesling Needed
Hi fellow wine mates Iam looking for an off-dry to mildly sweet Australian Riesling, say 2%~3% r.s. and not more than 10% alcohol to go with very spicy Asain food. I've been drinking from some of the top names in Mosel (Loosen, Prum, Fritz Haag etc) and I am keen to try a few from Australia. So far ...

The King Of White Grapes
A Chardonnay from a reputable region is probably the most expensive white wine in the World but by no means it is the king of all white varieties. There goes a saying: “Great wines are measured not from where they begin but from where they endÂ…. in our glass.Ââ€Â. We do...

Hi guys
Really appreciate the suggestions and information. Will see if I can find them here in Singapore. The problem is our Supermarkets do not carry too many names. Vast majority of whites are Chardonnays. I'll try Carrefour.
