Having spent the most part of 2008 in HK, here's a few pointers. Hotels; * Pretty expensive in HK - Probably most expensive part of asia. * If you want soemthing cheap (Say around $100aud) then try the Bishop Lei hotel. Old place but nice and clean and a pretty good spot on Robinson road at teh top ...

The Woollahara hotel has an excellent restaurant in it (Bistro Moncur). Great menu at exceptionally affordable rates when you consider the location and quality on offer. Great for that night that's a bite special but you don't want to be too extravagant. Bookings essential. http://www.woollahrahotel...

Over the past three or four years I've tried quite a few but I keep coming back to Allan Scott from Marlborough. Retails for about $19 in Aus but you can find it on special for less than $15 if you're prepared to wait. Nice grassy bouquet with passionfruit. Very crisp taste - goes well with good fi...

The Best Sav Blanc.....
My wife and I are big fans of Sav Blanc and were curious as to which one everyone else rates as the best and why??? We have our own order of preference but are interested in hearing othe's view points.
Please share here. We're hoping to pick up on a few boutique ones that we are yet to discover.

Took some of the advice and can report the following.... Sunrise 2006 Shiraz - Chile. Nice big flavoursome wine not unlike an Australian shiraz. Very big in the mouth with a bit of lingering pepper and spice. Nice little quaffer to remind you of home! And I did get hold of a Californian Zinfandel. N...

Don't tell me they're actually making some good stuff these days??? Bullers was one of the local wineries near my family so I'd often frequent their cellar door. Unfortunately, I was far to often disappointed in their wines. Great port, but average to poor wines. Especially some of their whites!!! A...

Craig What type of food does Vin provide? Sounds interesting. Also I might be going to France Soir, so what do you guys recommend (red) to go with French food? (98 Bin 389. 99 Saltram No1. 98 St Hugo) It's a great concept. Especially for those of us that put as much value on the wine as the food, b...

Located in Dubai...... Thanks for all the tips thus far... We have managed to try the Sunrise shiraz which we both like and we are using the Jacobs creek reserve as our saving grace at the moment. Craig, we are obviously looking at different wineries / wines and I've looked at a lot of wines pretty well every day for the last 5 years. Then again, when a wine/winery goes above my perception of a good QPR level, I just move on and find something else to fill the gap, that happened a lot for mo...

I don't know where you've been the last 5 years or so, but from my viewpoint (red) wine drinkers have had a dream run where there have been some pretty good vintages and where the wine glut has kept prices of many desirable wines pretty static. In fact I just bought the 2004 vintage of a wine I buy...

I think it's pretty simple. Two things: 1. It's the same thing we complain about here all the time. Our winemakers are simply becoming to greedy and charging to much for their product. In a market that has a lot more choice than we do here, charging >$25 GBP a bottle is getting beyond most people's ...

I think you missed the point that the company stated that it didn't happen. That is why the topic was that it was a trust issue. Oh and to me it looks like a bit more than a day's worth of data cheers Carl It doesn't say that at all!! But you're right, if they said it didn't but it was, well that's...

You're all dead set kidding yourselves. For a start, to maintain temp below 22 degrees in a storage facility is pretty good when the outside temp is over 40 degrees. Secondly, most of these places run air-cooled type condensers. NO air-cooled type condensers work effectively in temperatures above 40...

Australian Shiraz is comparable to........
Hi all.... I've recently removed myself from Australia nad relocated myself over to the middle east (What was I thinking??). In any case, the best selection of Australian shiraz around here seems to be a Wyndham estate bin 555 (Yuk!!), or a Jacobs creek reserve shiraz (Not too bad). The point is, no...

I agree that all deserve equal treatment. However, I disagree with the 'business owners' view on byo. I cannot see how a restaurant could lose by offering byo together with the restaurant wine list. Just ensure the byo charge is enough to ensure you stay in business. Your client's can decide for th...

Recently had the pleasure of this drop at a lunch but have been unable to locate it anywhere.
Could anyone help me out with a supplier and estimated cost (Drank in a restaurant)?
I'd also be interested to see if other people rate this wine (I do)? Feedback appreciated!
