Re: Tokaji Aszú

G'day, I was Googling the net where to buy Tokaji Aszú in Sydney or even NSW, when I came across this little corner of the cyber word. Have to admit, I’m not a big drinker or even a taster, but I know that drinking this particular brand of wine is almost puts you to a little place of heav...

Re: Wines killed by marketing departments

We have just drunk our last Wynns Oven Valley Burgundy (Shiraz) - a 1991 - it made me wonder how many icons of the Australian wine industry have been killed off by marketing departments. A couple have made come backs like Hardys Tintara and Seppelt Moyston. Lindemans Hunter River may yet survive bu...

Re: Wine storage in Brisbane or Gold Coast

I'm looking to cellar 15 cases for 3-4 years somewhere on the Gold Coast or Brisbane. I've only managed to find one place (on the gold coast) and they charge $2 per bottle each year, plus $4 per case on delivery. Does this sound about right (given prices are likely to be higher up here due to warme...

Re: 2000 Palandri Shiraz Magnum

I was given a bottle of this in about 2002 or 2003 from the winery. I can't find any tasting notes on it. I recently saw the JH notes for the 01, 02 & 03 but no '00. Nothing special about the other vintages at around 88pts. But didn't know if anyone had any thoughts on how this wine may be. It ...

I had a pallet drop on my foot , making drop the bottle that was in my hands , bent down to try to catch bottle , split my pants , fell on broken bottle , cut my leg . So when a few co workers came to see what the fuss was I was Crying , bleeding , and in pain , looking like ... not to pretty . Good...

Issues in retail wine

Ok , first up I do sell wine for a living , so there is a conflict here - sorry for those that I offend . Talking to a few friends over a lazy sunday lunch the topic of our favorite bottle shops came up , now and in the past . After much discussion ( also some red spilt - big hand gestures , must re...
