Disagree with you on the '01 Black Pepper being the most terrible wine of the year. Found it to be very nice (not worth $90, but we aren't talking about the overpriced category). Suspect you got a bad bottle. Nothing wrong with the bt. Slipped of the tongue, "terrible" quality becos of the RR$ and ...

2005 Hall of Shame

Most terrible wine: E&E Black Pepper 2001 Who is Hardy trying to kid? At $90 (RR$), this has got to be worst super-premium wine in the market. Don't get me wrong, I've been a fan of this label since 1994 and some of their vintages like 94 & 96 were Grange beater. Despite of a hot vintage in...

Hi Enzo, I guess one have to keep in mind that Ben Glaetzer increased production by over 300 percent from around 300 cases in 2003 to over 1100 cases. Maybe even he did not have the fruit to produce so much with a consistant quality... Cheers, Joern -------------------- Joern Meissner m First, make...

Grant & Gavin, I've to respectfully disagreed. The Wolfie Platinum 2002 was mind-blowing. It's like a precoucious Grange 1998, more accessible in its youth. Power, bottomless depth with everything in abundant and a trialaton lenght. I drank it next to their stable mate, 8thMaker 2001. It left th...

On second thought, if the condition is good(levels) u can dispose it in the auction. Some 36 yr O buggers may want it for their birthyear wine and the novelty of being foreign.

Cheers,

Heathcote is the premier Shiraz region in VIC certainly not AU. I love Jasper Hill Georgia, any WDC and RedEdge(would be better if Mr.Dredge use some new timber) Dislike the styles of Dominique Portet and Sergio Carlei. Didnt do any justice to this region. They should be making wines in Europe For v...

Gavin,

No doubt the '95 MW is a mighty fine wine but it will get drown by those big Napa Cab. I suggest u should bring Balnaves "Tally" 1998 or maybe the Maxwell Reserve 2001. These 2 will not be out of place. Fight fire with fire.

Last nite I invited Dave "Duck" Anderson for a dinner. I asked what would he like and he reply..."a good Cabernet" We started off with Giaconda Nantua 2002 - This bt. was bought over by his agent Greg. I found the light golden color a little advance for such a young white. Tangy with spicy, lime, pe...

Mamre Brook 2002 Cab

As I was typing, I am enjoying the MB 2002 Cab. Terrific stuff - nose, palate and lenght put many $40 wine to shame.
Only thing is it lacked typicity(tasted like a Cab/Shz Blend), but it doesnt bother me. It gotta be the best under $20 wine I ever had, Bravo to Saltram!!!

Allan,
Never been a fan of JO. Some of the wines I adored was rated 16._ /20 exp. Jasper Hill Gergia '99, Cyril Henschke 94 and the list goes on....

Adam,
Jancis tends to favour "traditional claret" (elegant) style. I expect a $50 wine to impress. "Decent" is in the <$20s category.
