transporting wine internationally
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had any experience transporting wine on checked luggage for international flights? Obviously they will be well padded/protected when packed - any other problems anyone has encountered? We're visiting a poor bugger in Brasil who's been away from aussie plonk for to...

Re: NWR: Brisbane Floods
Hi Michael, It'll probably take you min 2 hours to get it all done. It surprised me how long it took. The process they have running is that you go and grab your wine out (bottle by bottle) with the guys who are helping and take it out to the loading bay. There, they have tables set up where first st...

Re: NWR: Brisbane Floods
I was pretty damn pleased with what I found this evening when I went to collect my wine. Veeeeeeeeeeeery impressive operation and something that instills great confidence in your business. I feel like a real schmuck for kicking up a stink and only wish I'd really known what was going on there. It's ...

Re: NWR: Brisbane Floods
While acknowledging the difficulty of this situation I am still quite unhappy with my experience. I sent an email to Kennard's last night noting my concerns and was called early this morning by the Sydney office who organised for me to come in at 5pm today and told me that they were hoping to have t...

ahhhh what a debacle. i'm so keen on getting the hell out of kennards. could anyone else see the check list they attached to the email about what to do with the wine? it comes out as a very unhelpful blur on my comp. rens, an update on conditions in there would be awesome.... oh and give them a piec...

Re: TN: Kay Brothers Hillside Shiraz 2003
We tasted a bottle of the 2004 hillside shiraz with a 2002 st henri (along with many other bottles) last friday night and the kay's was many people's (around 40%) WOTN. It looked smelled and tasted like an absolute baby. Classic McLaren Vale shiraz and a delight to drink.

Re: NWR: Brisbane Floods
hi guys, my question is: what are we actually going to have to do with the wine if we want to retain any hope of keeping it for another few years? i was kinda thinking i would just leave it there till the electricity comes back on but i guess we r going to have to take it all out, replace boxes, rel...

Re: Brisbane Offline December 2010
Hi everyone, +1 rather than 3 is easy. I'll just tell them it's somewhere else Regarding which wine to bring, Cullen DM 03 and Clonakilla SV 09 fit with the theme and is perhaps what I am more interested in drinking. Is this ok? If we are interested in more whites I can bring a new release Polish Hi...

Just thought it might be good to have an older St Henri/389 to taste the 96 Grange against in order to get some perspective... I can get my hands on St Henri 98/99 or a 1995/97/2000 Bin 389. Thoughts?

Re: Brisbane Offline December 2010
I love the idea of comparing the leeuwin v giaconda and would be happy to look at other whites as well (especially given the likely heat of the evening at that time of year), but am a red drinker at heart so won't mind if we spend the entire night on magnificent red wines. Unfortunately (being on a ...

Re: September what are you buying
One final purchase to add on top of the Clonakilla and Nick O'Leary SVs for the month
12 Seppelt Drumborg Riesling 09 ... on the strength of a 98 point review from JO in the 2011 annual picked up today.
There are certainly a lot of Rieslings in there that appear to be great QPR.

Just to follow a rather unoriginal trend:
Clonakilla SV and O'Raida '09 - my first dip into the Clonakilla hype
&
Nick O'Leary Shiraz 09 (08 was quite exciting - hoping for great things)
Church Block 08 (@12.50 who could say no)

Thanks for your recommendations! I'll do a little more reading myself and let you know plans and, eventually, what I thought. At the moment Mendoza is definitely on the list... who could possibly resist cycling through wine country?! I'll definitely take up some of your other tips too. Many thanks Tim

I was just wondering if you could tell me a bit about bottle shock... I'm not really sure what it is and how it manifests...
Thanks!
