Re: Kitchener Wine Fridges
Rather than repair or buy a new wine fridge I got the room air conditioned for $2,500 and the broken fridge is being used as shelving with the door wide open. So now there is much more cool space and - with Mrs. Hackers approval - I can fill up more room with wine. I'm a genius! What temperature ar...

It’s actually illegal for them to mislead you of your Warranty rights
You don’t want to exceed your Warranty rights
The same year would be perfect but current vintage is fine

It’s exhausting & insulting to experience this
You will need to write a letter of demand
There is a template on the Consumer website
If they don’t respond in 7 days then approach the local Sheriff in the court and lodge a claim.
Twice I have done this
It works
Good luck
Don’t let it go Jamie

Have drunk 90, 94, 97, 98, 00, 02 in the last 2-3 years, no issues re low sulphur, bacterial spoilage or whatever. All graceful old cab blends some in their twilight, some with years to go. Was it true that Virgin Hills did not add any Sulphur to their wines ? Remember reading something about it. It true, then I would be very wary of any aged bottle. On the subject of Grenache. It can, like Gamay, be absurdly variable in its iterations to label what is varietaly correct. There is the wildly bretty versions like Ch Rayas, over ripe and jammy like in Australia, juicy and gluggable from Spain, and spicy dark fruit from Sardinia in the form of Cann...

Re: Screwcap advice
Brown and rustic from a 2014 nebbiolo does not sound right. The only time it happened to me, with the cap and sleeve moving together, was with a Stock 'Lionel' red vermouth from Italy. In this case brown, rustic, and herbal was quite okay. Mahmoud. Graham from cellar door said it sounds like a fail...

Re: What unpopular (wine) opinions do you have?
While I'm at it, here's another one I'm throwing into the Hornet's nest: Double Decanting is an over-rated, antiquated practice that in almost all circumstances should be avoided (especially for old wines) . I hate it when so-called wine experts automatically double decant old wines without a secon...

Re: Screwcap advice
This indicates a failure during the bottling process. The cap and sleeve are originally one part which is put over the neck of the bottle. Force is then delivered to the top of the cap which compresses the disc inside the cap against the glass lip, which is the part that creates the seal. The sides...
