Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight

Yeah I was going to say, I actually got the tip from yourself in the torbreck thread that yalumba signature was good value, and got the tip about wynns from you too, so cheers for steering me in the right direction !

Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight

Having a 21 yalumba signature tonight. Quite impressed. Nice deep colour with red edges, not opaque. Probably a bit young, but a nice nose and vibrant fruit on the palate, nice and smooth drink with nothing jumping out of order. Seems pretty good !

Re: 23 Agricola ebenezer

Actually looking back, Callum said the ebenezer and the Hoffman dalliwitz are the two that are likely to need the longest cellaring and decant - this is where I’ve gone wrong. I opened it way too early and didn’t decant it enough. Feel silly now that I sort of wasted the bottle but oh well- a learni...

23 Agricola ebenezer

Hey so I recently opened a bottle of 2023 Agricola ebenezer and initially didn’t think it was that great. I want to say that I think this is more than likely related to my inexperience, but was wanting to pick the brains of some of the aficionados here. On a positive note on the nose, it definitely ...

Re: Giaconda Chardonnay Alternatives

I usually take a bottle of Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay or Tyrrell's Vat 47 for special occasion that suit with white wines. I also missed the Giaconda release and keen to try the Beechworth Chardonnay that I haven't tried before. May I know how can I be included in the mail list of Sorrenb...

Just throwing it out there Felix and Jamie I’m keen to absorb your wisdom on good value buys.

I think wynns black label fits this bucket currently but yeah happy to be guided into good value wine options …!

Might be deserving of its own thread

Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight

Opened a bottle of 2023 black grape society grandmaster Pinot from central Otago NZ that I got recently in a mixed case , very impressed. I don’t have all the descriptors, but very light and translucent in colour, low tannins and just very smooth and drinkable. Fruit forward, red fruits, with a bit ...

Far too much especially at my stage in my wine journey. I’d be inquisitive to try a glass of it but couldn’t bring myself to pay that much for a bottle !

Re: Torbreck labels

Yeah interesting ! That’s the thing with penfolds is that they just seem to want to produce wines that they can charge exorbitant prices for I’m still in the process of trying and finding what I like. There really is a lot that goes into wine - so many varietals, producers, styles, vintages, regions...

Yep, so runrig is the top drop and descendant follows the 389 baby grange path sort of. Got it. But from what you two are saying, seems like torbreck is similarly overpriced for what it is ? In general I think any Aussie bottle that’s going up towards 1k per bottle is a bit out there. That’s probabl...

Hey there , Was wanting to see if one of your experienced folk was able to give a quick shpiel about the different labels with in torbreck?
