Re: 2024 Rockford Mailer

Rag arrived today, seems the Rockford crew are pretty pleased with the 2021 vintage. Prices same as last year (and think they needed to be) , largely due to bumper crop, so will make plenty of cashola. Interestingly the absolute gentleman of the Aus wine industry takes a different perspective. Noon...

Re: 2024 Wendouree Mailer

Being a beginner in the Wendouree world, my 81 year old father-in-law who is responsible for my later in life interest in red wine says he isn't waiting 20 years to try this wine I have been "rattling on about for the last 4 years!!" So I will have to open a 2022 when my small purchase ar...

Re: Which 5 Wineries are Most Represented in Your Cellar?

Being a novice with much less knowedge and a much smaller collection: Tahbilk - have a soft spot for their history and cellar door experience, and their reds are just enjoyable to drink - 35 Wild Duck Ceek Estate - relatively new to their mailing list, reds for me and whites for the father-in-law, b...

Re: 2024 Wendouree Mailer

A lot of wines that need to be aged are quite open when they are first bottled and then shutdown. Once the Wendouree arrives, pick a bottle and leave it standing for a few days to get over the travel shock and then open . If it’s difficult to drink, put the cap on and try again either later the sam...

Re: 2024 Wendouree Mailer

I’m struggling to transition from someone who drinks their Wendouree mature to someone who also drinks them young. My 20 year rule still in play and had my first 2001 Cabernet Malbec last night. Usual routine. Decanted into a small decanter and after about 30 min a bouquet emerged. Re-poured back i...

Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight

Glad you enjoyed it...I have 5 left and could easily go another dozen, but really really really need to show some restraint. WDC are an absolute favourite, I have never purchased the high end stuff, as I think Springflat is so good. Cheers Craig Yes I have developed quite a liking of Heathcote reds...

Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight

WDC Yellow Hammerhill Shiraz Malbec 2022. This is superb, like a silky cuddly blanket generous fruit, great depth, Malbec really brings everything together, and the 5% Cabernet gives a nice freshness. Long palate, finest tannins, super smooth and carries the 15.2% easily. A definite nod to Tony Bra...

Re: Wendouree Mail Order 2022 ( 2020 vintage )

2nd year player here, just received this year's nicely worded knockback letter, stating with production of only 25tn that pricelists will only be sent to long term customers, and I will be retained on the list and advised when stocks from the 2021 vintage (yielding 45tn) are released in 2023. good to hear positive stories in the main.....I'm a newbie and missed out this year (completly understandable) so am searching the market to add a Wendouree to my small collection, not having much luck given the high prices but will keep looking. Hopefully next year I get to buy direct.

Re: Wendouree 2021 Mailer

First timer here in Vic, received my nicely worded rejection letter asking me to reply with confirmation that I want to be advised of future offers.

So I will wait a year in the attempt to add a couple of Wendouree examples to my small collection.
