Re: Wine Art

I genuinely thought this was a photograph until you said you painted the Zalto. Super impressive, particularly the reflection on the Glass and the sharpness of the corckscrew which I think is what is messing with my perception.

Re: Vintage 2017

From what i've read/heard Hunter Valley - Great conditions, rain over winter and some rain around the near year which helped the vines with the hot days in January and February. Both Shiraz and Sem look like they are in for a good year although a late heatwave had them nervous about Shiraz. A few wi...

Re: Keeping A Single Bottle At Temperature

Sadly I don't think my partner will allow me another wine fridge until we move into the new house. I have been using mine, but I lack the space to stand a bottle in there at this point in time and i'd rather not. Maybe I can sneak a small vintec in while she isn't looking? Tonym does the Cooper actu...

Keeping A Single Bottle At Temperature

With Summer moving in fairly quickly up here in Queensland the issue of drinking temperatures comes up again. Every year I find myself running around the house trying to prevent my wine from heating up. It has been a while but I swear Dante wrote about the circle of hell where sinners are forced to ...

Re: Are restaurant portions getting smaller?

I think we are seeing a bifurcation of serving sizes. In pub-style venues the serves are approaching American-sized servings. While at the fancy cuisine wankery venues the sizes are diminishing. Hopefully some middle ground will survive!! Cheers Michael Spot on. The goal of those Wankery venues tho...

Re: Wine Cellar inventory tools

You can print off all your reports from cellartracker if you'd like a physical spreadsheet as well as export a copy of your spreadsheet. However, you do need internet access to view your inventory through the App.

Re: Wine Clubs

Is a wine club different to being on a mailing list? And some mailers are different to others. Some seem quite free and easy whereas others require your first born child and 25 years of loyalty before you can even smell the stuff. Most people here seem to have gone the mailing list way. A Wine Club...

Re: Brutal Review

Reading the berserker site it would appear the reviewer has seen the wine before, and didnt like it. If the wine is not your thing why would you continue to review it. You have made your point previously, to go on about it just seems a bit uncool to me. Isn't it still their job to review the wine? ...

Re: Disclosing Import History

Being purchased through an Auction format would change what is actually required disclosure by the vendor wouldn't it? Not necessarily:- m I'd also point out that the misleading and deceptive provisions may also apply to omissions as much as they do positive assertions. The consumer guarantees (s54...

Re: Glassware

Visited a wonderful Mornington Peninsula cellar door (Myrtaceae) and they offered their tastings using these special Riedel glasses that you roll on it side on the benchtop, creating a layer of wine around the inside of the glass before tasting. I must say it did a surprising job of expressing the ...

Re: Top favourite red styles

It appears that Cabernet is King at Auswine. It has been run down by Shiraz and Pinot today, that lead is significantly smaller than it was yesterday. Nebbiolo an (unsurprising considering the love for it on this forum) dark horse as well. Would be very interesting to compare this to everyones Cell...

Re: Disclosing Import History

Being purchased through an Auction format would change what is actually required disclosure by the vendor wouldn't it? I know in most other formats Auction's are buyer beware and I assume the ACL wouldn't consider the omission to be misleading or deceptive under s18 unless they make a reasonable cla...

I still have a few bottles in my collection. Such a shame they were absorbed into Bélair. For a class B wine I have never been disappointed by them.

Re: Which Australian gins are people drinking?

Nice to see Gin getting the first post. I expected Whisky to take that title. For Australian Gins it is hard to go past the Tambourine Mountain Distillery's Lilly Pilly Gin, I would be willing to say that this is the most interesting Australian made Gin and has been for some time. Quite popular in t...
