Re: Cruel cruel Langtons......
Yeah i might start using a combination of the two strategies. Bid early, bid my “max” and then if i get a case of losers regret i can bid my MAX max at the last minute. :) There were some 04’s in that massive vendor lot Polymer. Was tempted to try them too but ended up going with what i knew. But yo...

Re: Cruel cruel Langtons......
Langtons did confirm the problem was internal and the site issue will definitey make me rethink how i bid. But regardless of when i decide to bid, the possibility of being outbid in the last minute remains. That risk is always there. And the notion that my max bid of $100 will win simply because it ...

Re: Wine fridge box/bottle storage question.
Yeah your right. Capacity will suffer. I just hate the idea of having everything out of boxes, especially if its years away from seeing the light of day. But that may not be a very rational thought. We’re likely to move within the year too. So i like stuff already packed in boxes. So besides the pra...

Wine fridge box/bottle storage question.
A quick question for those that have experience with wine fridges. Ive decided to move the wines i have into a pair of Kitchener peltier type wine fridges. So the question i have is.... do i need to remove them from their boxes and place them all in as individual bottles? Or is the cardboard fine to...

Re: Cruel cruel Langtons......
There's always another bottle...It'll come up again.. Particularly with that wine As the old saying goes, all roads lead,..... Hence there is always a lot of those big reds coming up Hopefully you buy and enjoy then before you head down that road! Which old saying is that Bob? All roads lead to.......

Re: Cruel cruel Langtons......
You’re a compassionate lot.... Not quite the intended theme of the thread but i acknowledge the points made. As ozzie, bob and polymer state, of course there are advantages to bidding towards the close of an auction. But yes, obviously theres one very risky disadvantage, that i experienced th...

Re: Cruel cruel Langtons......
Hi Con. Im sure theres a variety of reasons not to use Langtons. I didn't really have a choice. Though the choice ended up being made for me. Ha!

Cruel cruel Langtons......
Ok, so this is just a bit of a rant/sob. Something i need to do to get it off my chest. With a bit of luck itll help me heal and I can move on. In my original thread i mention a 2005 Alices shiraz from Greenock Creek wines. A wine i absolutey loved. Ever since then ive been searching Langtons for so...

I hope your wrong too. Of the couple ive tried, one had that slight edge. The other didnt. Still enjoyed both though and couldn't refuse the recent special on them at $25.

Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight
2010 Wynns Black Label Cab Sav Gee this is good. Loaded with blackberry pastilles there is such a drinkability about this wine right now, I was very surprised. Tannins have settled down and the fruit has really come out on top. Wonderful balance, well handled oak with a pencil type notes, eucalyptu...

Re: Please help this novice fill a decanter and a cellar!
Im fairly sure that not the entire bottle is seen here. Heres some more notable mentions. I only had a few misses with all the bottles from Langtons. A Kalleske Greenock had some fault. And a 3 bottle lot of 96 Command shiraz were complete port having probably spent their lives next to the stove in ...

Re: Please help this novice fill a decanter and a cellar!
Cheers for that. I do use photobucket but its started adding a dirty great watermark to every photo. No thank you. So, i honestly cant remember why i chose the wines i did. But I was keen to taste some aged “iconic” Aussie reds, being as im in the peak big Aussie reds age bracket. Maybe i just signe...

Re: Please help this novice fill a decanter and a cellar!
Well, after reading more replies (thanks again) it seems I might have to take an inevitable pallet change into account. Or hedge my bets at the very least. Im quite surprised that most (I understand not all as rens stated) wine drinkers seem to follow such a defined path in terms of taste preference...

I really appreciate the adv...
