I had a Teusner The Bilmore Shiraz 2014 the other night. Great value. Beautiful fruit with nice length. I recon it has a long future. A bargain at under $20.

The prices of these have gone crazy on Langtons after Halliday called it wine of the year. Some currently @ $195 pb and theres still 2 days left on the auction

3 bottles sold for $400 each + commission at this auction. Unbelievable...!!!

Damn, I wish I knew they replaced them. I opened a 96 St Henri last month and it was badly corked. Tipped it down the sink. I originally bought 6. The first 4 were incredible. Unfortunately I only have 1 left. I was a bit scared to open it after the last one but you guys have given me a little more ...

Some currently @ $195 pb and theres still 2 days left on the auction I know, right. Don't forget they have to pay the 16.5% commission. Just crazy. I also luckily got a 6 pack before the madness. 6 x Wendouree Shiraz 2013 6 x Wendouree Cabernet 2013 6 x Wendouree Malbec 2013 6 x Wendouree Cab/Mal 2...

The more recent vintages are pretty atypical of Wendouree...although that might end up being typical going forward if they're all like that....A lot more approachable....but less Wendouree like....Softer acid, softer tannins..a bit more fruit...For 2012 I thought the Cab Malbec and Shiraz Mataro we...

Cracked my first Wendouree last night. I figured if I'm going to keep ordering, I at least should taste them all and get a feel for the wine. It was not at all what I was expecting. Everything I had read about led me to believe these were huge wines that required years to come together. I was quite ...

Anyone tried this http://sullivanscovewhisky.com/ . Apparently won worlds best and at $500 per bottle it would need to be something special. Nice to see Tassie having a go. I know nothing about whisky except what I learnt on Boardwalk Empire. :)

1994 Wynns Michael Shiraz. A Christmas day special. Absolutely outstanding. I was anxious about the cork but the Ah-so pulled it out easily and it was perfect. Drinking beautifully.

Hi Ozzie, I read this post a while ago and wasn't sure when or where to step in so I didn't post. There were so many different issues to address I didn't know where to start. Today, while looking for something in the search engine, I stumbled upon it once again and read the last few posts. I see th...

2003 Henschke Keyneton Estate Euphonium. Hmmm, surprised to taste no fruit. All secondary flavours. This is past its prime but still pleasant enough to drink. Smooth mouth feel with impressive length. I only wish I got to this a few years earlier. I've still one left in the cellar. I better smash it...

Winestar shows some in stock under screw cap. I bought 2 dozen on release at $68 and they are resting nicely in the cellar. I had a mate bring over a taster and this is an excellent wine that will age magnificently.

Has anyone tried the 2012 Bin 389? And what prices are you finding it for? I believe its released tomorrow. Halliday scores it at 97 points and says; Deep, dense crimson-purple; the profound bouquet offers every kind of black fruits imaginable, large and small, yet somehow leaves a space and air in...

You can buy bulk un-aged port from many wineries. I put the Keg Blend from Liebich in mine. It's already fortified and just needs the barrel for aging and complexity.

Re: Buying a port keg

+1 on the Keg Factory. It may seem expensive at first but considering it will probably live longer than us it's cheap per annum. My father bought a cheap barrel and it was leaking through the tap very early on beyond repair. Now just a useless bar ornament. I have only recently started my barrel and...

Tried the 2012 Mojo Coonawarra Cab Sav last night. Really liked it. Nice colour with fine tannins. Perfect oak. Took a bit to open up in the glass but ended up finishing the bottle over the night. An absolute bargain price for this quality.

Had a couple of WA crackers last night. A Moss Wood Cabernet 2008 and a Jack Mann Cabernet 2008. Both just outstanding. The Jack was maybe a little classier but really hard to split them. Both have still got very long futures ahead.

I have the 2011 and 2012 in my cellar. I tried an 11 last years and it's better than an 89 IMO. Not sure about the 97 points but after a long decant I enjoyed it. Haven't tried the 2012 yet which I believe he also gave a 97 to.

I'm not sure how any of the scoring works but I haven't had too many bad wines that Halliday rates at 95 or above. I use those numbers as a benchmark to try new wines. Works for my. Every now and then all the known scorers are on the same page. Usually means a nice drop. I still buy his book every y...
