Re: Tassie Trip

Hi maybs Thanks for the write up. Brought back some fond memories of two Tassie trips last year. Plenty of good tips there. Shame you didn't eat at Joseph Chromy or Frogmore Creek. My two best dining experiences in Tassie. Cheers Michael Couldn't agree more about Frogmore Creek! Great write up Mayb...

Re: Tassie Trip

Hi all, Thanks heaps for the tips - Much appreciated!! Well we've slightly modified our plans and will be spending our first night at Freycinet so will definitely make the stops suggested along the way. Bonus being that that part wont be included in my dedicated wine touring day so I've just earned ...

Tassie Trip

Hi all, Booked to head across the pond to Tassie for the last weekend in Feb and will be staying in Hobart for four nights spanning starting on the Friday... Was hoping that I could get some direction as to which wineries to visit. The GF likes her wine, but I'm pretty sure all I'll get as play time...

Re: Halliday Hate?

Slightly different topic, but I'd encourage anyone starting out in wine to not start madly collecting wine based on anyone's points. Start tasting wines from everywhere, whenever and wherever you can, decide what styles you like, and why you like them, but don't buy too much right away as your tast...

Halliday Hate?

I'm at the very inexperienced end of the spectrum when it comes to wine knowledge/appreciation etc so i don't intend this post to come across as ignorant. Nor is it meant to come to the defense of (or belittle anyone) either, but I notice in almost every thread on here - regardless of topic - Hallid...

Re: Cellaring Pinot

Not really Travis... four years would be as aged as I've had with Pinot. Like you said, either way, I will have booked a seat at mate's dinners and be a hit!

Re: Cellaring Pinot

Do you know how to assess through taste if a wine is likely to age? If not then as has been suggested above, look at what the critics say. However, Pinot is a funny beast. I've had pinots that undergo a wonderful transformation in a year, go dumb for a couple of years then have a couple of years of...

Cellaring Pinot

After realising I had access to some valuable cellar space, I've decided to start collecting wine (i'm trying to fill the void for many years that a childhood filled with basketball and football cards left) and have been reading through prior posts and articles for cellaring advice. The advice is st...

Re: May 2014 Purchases

Have decided that at 31 I will try to curb my voracious appetite for drinking the wine and would start cellaring a portion... Goodbye disposable income.
