best way 2 transport from cellarfridge 2 penfold wine clinic
Hi gentleman, Just wanted some wisdom and advice: In August i want to take some Penfolds Grange to the 2014' wine clinic. I live some 20km (30min drive maximum) from where they will have it. I currently obviously have the Grange's in a cellar fridge at 13 degree's and am wondering how to transport t...

Re: Best Temperature to store wine for a longgg time ?
To clarify my earlier statement, if you have a wine that should theoretically peak in 15 years, but want to cellar it for 30+ years, I'd suggest 10 of less degrees (the reference earlier to the Champagne found at the bottom of the sea is a good benchmark). That said, if the cork isn't perfect, you ...

Re: Best Temperature to store wine for a longgg time ?
Why not go straight to the source? If you are looking at exclusively Grange, maybe give Penfolds a ring and get an answer from the horses mouth so to speak. They would be the best advice on their own product i would think?? Well i did do this, but the customer service staff there were only referrin...

Re: Best Temperature to store wine for a longgg time ?
Ive dropped the temperature to 13 degrees and it seems very very steady and hardly fluctuating...so this may be the best temperature. According to my observations and average's ive seen....so far the lowest reading has been 11.9 degrees and the highest 13.2 degrees. With lowest humidity reading at 5...

Re: Best Temperature to store wine for a longgg time ?
Yeah im just wondering what alot of people think.
It seems on oversea's websites they believe 55 degrees Fahrenheit is ideal which equates to: 12.7 degrees celcius.

Best Temperature to store wine for a longgg time ?
Hi Everyone, Sorry to keep on a similar subject but im just wondering what everyone thinks in terms of storing Red Wine (Grange) for a long period of time. What is the ideal temperature in our ozy climate you all think for a WINE CELLAR FRIDGE ? 13 Degrees ? or cooler like 12 ?...............or 14 D...

Re: Wine Cellar Fridge Help !! - IM GOING NUTSSSSSS
Im no expert, but I doubt there will be much difference in the long term. The wines might age slightly more slowly at 13 degrees, but whether there is a noticeable difference or not is debatable. ok fair enough well thanks very much for your opinion, youve been a great help. if i set to 13 Degrees ...

Re: Wine Cellar Fridge Help !! - IM GOING NUTSSSSSS
Not quite. I'm saying the wine temp wont fluctuate as much as the air temp. Think about it this way. When you put a bottle of water in the fridge, it takes time for it to cool down to fridge temp. In the same way, as the air temp rises a degree or two in the fridge, the wine wont instantenously cha...

Re: Wine Cellar Fridge Help !! - IM GOING NUTSSSSSS
The temp fluctuations you are seeing is the air temp, not the wine. I doubt the wine temp is changing much at all. Ohhh ok i get you. So if i set the temperature on the Wine Fridge to 14 degrees......once the Wine Fridge gets to that temperature the WINE will stay at 14 degrees ? But your saying th...

Re: Wine Cellar Fridge Help !! - IM GOING NUTSSSSSS
It's the expanding and contacting of air inside the bottle, if the temperature change is very gradual (15 all summer and 12 all winter) then this is much better than having it happen rapidly and repeatedly (every day), causing the wine to oxidize and age prematurely. Ok Ok i undersdtand now, thanks...

Re: Wine Cellar Fridge Help !! - IM GOING NUTSSSSSS
Anyway, back to your question. A fluctuation of 3 or 4 degrees daily is a bit of a problem if you are planning to store for 20 or so years. That much fluctuation over the seasons (ie 15 in summer and 12 in winter) wont matter much at all. Sorry Dan bit confused with your answer. You said: A fluctua...

Re: Wine Cellar Fridge Help !! - IM GOING NUTSSSSSS
Id set it at 13 degrees and make sure it's in an area of your house that also has a fairly even temperature so the fridge doesn't have to work too hard to maintain it. Your humidity seems fine, around 60-70 is good. May I ask why you are collecting Grange if you are never going to drink it?? It's t...
