Re: The #OMB Chardonnay Challenge 2019
Looks like a great tasting Tim. Surprisingly, the 2017 cooindah was one of my best whites tried last year. Loved it. Agree re: the quality of Aussie and NZ chardy improving in leaps and bounds. Look fwd to hearing about round two. Was a surprise to myself and a few others also. Having gone through ...

Re: Pinot Palooza 2017
Alright. Here goes. Apologies in advance for the general shortness of the notes, and somewhat similar feel to them. Had about 30seconds to a minute with each wine before moving on and battling the hoardes to get in there for a taste. Exceptional day. Scores are based on my preference, tannin and mo...

Re: Hong Kong Wine & Food Thread
Hello all - I'm heading to HK in a few weeks, did a search on the forum, and thought this was probably the best place to get some advice. I'll be there for 4 days, and have taken onboard the advice to search on Wine Searcher for e-tailers, but was wondering whether they would be able to deliver wit...

Re: Hong Kong Wine & Food Thread
The Hong Kong wine scene is nothing short of amazing. The market has shifted, competition increased as the landlords taken out of the equation with retailers utilizing the internet and setting up in non-prime real estate areas. Pricing is often significantly chapter than bonded UK stock as slowly, ...

Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight
St Henri Shiraz 2004 Had this last night. Very disappointed. Tree bark stripped it clean to a smidgen of its previous class. Lifeless and lacking any x factor. Why did they persist with cork even as far back as 2008 when this was released???? Grrrrrr Grrrr I was wondering if this might have shut do...

Re: Feb 2016 Purchases
Bought a bottle of the '07 Passopisciaro Etna Rosso when I was down in Melbourne over Christmas, and had it the next day at the half way point on our drive to Adelaide. 'Twas just starting to show some secondary characteristics, whilst maintaining a freshness from the fruit that was still present an...

Re: Barolo and Barbaresco Dinner
In the same boat as winetastic having never attended an offline, but recently caught the nebbiolo bug so am very interested, also date dependent.
Don't have very many older Barolos at all, but have accumulated quite a few 2010s, so am happy to bring those if suitable

Re: Sydney BYO Restaurants
Great thread, especially as I always seem to be searching variants of this on Google when deciding where to eat Il Baretto a favourite as well.. Glassware is out of the plain glasses they serve water in, but they don't mind if you bring your own. That duck ragu.. talking about it has made me want to...

Re: The Barolo / Barbaresco / Nebbiolo thread
Not very experienced at constructing tasting notes, usually more focused on enjoying rather than analysing, but here goes.. ! 2010 Benevelli Piero Barolo Ravera - quite reductive on the nose upon opening, but after 2 to 3 hours in the decanter, becoming quite perfumed, feminine and floral - first th...
