Re: Cyclone

Kennards Milton goes under if a local has a runny nose but the wine is now on the 4th floor.

All good so far where we are, losing power for 36hrs being the only inconvenience for us.

Re: Wine rack DIY

Cheers for that Jim, Ian. Could you do me a huge favour if not too much trouble. Could you measure the vertical timber sections. I'm assuming 20x30 or 25x42. Don't want them too chunky as that gets expensive and kills the elegant aesthetic but don't want to undercook it and find it collapsed under b...

Wine rack DIY

I'm building a home cellar and about to build some racking. But before I try reinvent the wheel, I thought I'd check if anyone else has built racking similar to this timber lattice style racking. Do you have plans? Screenshot_20240823_192605_Chrome.jpg I know I can do the Reo mesh that plenty of oth...

Cellar flooring

I'm in the process of putting in a small home cellar on a budget. I haven't yet figured out a flooring solution yet. It's currently concrete with some old concrete sealer from before we acquired the property. I've got some click timber laminate flooring I could use but I was wondering if there was a...

Best view and also very pretty winery is Audrey Wilkinson. Not your typical wine nerd sort of place but the view is stunning.

Re: Brisbane Offline - 21st April

Sounds like a good night was had even if not vinously geeked out. Indeed what shame to lose, seems to be the trend recently. Hang around for a couple years then reinvent yourself. As the customer we are always wanting to try the new place the days of the "regular" are gone. Must be very st...

I have been reading this post with mixed feelings. Very grateful to Gavin for doing it so long, hopeful that someone will step up but knowing full well it wouldn't be me. So thank you Gavin, very much appreciated for what you have done and provided, it really accelerated my growth and I would feel a...

Re: Sparkling/Champagne for the cellar

Thanks all, a bit to digest. I prefer the aged version of pretty much all other wine compared to their young equivalent. The secondary and tertiary characters are something I enjoy. However, I should not assume the same for Champagne or sparkling which could result in a very expensive disappointment...

Sparkling/Champagne for the cellar

Realising the cellar is very under represented by the bubbles and deciding to rectify that. Considering some grower champagnes like Pierre Peters, Franck Bonville, Andre Clouet etc but it seems the vintage options are a touch unaffordable, do the NVs cellar well and how long typically would one expe...

Brisbane August offline

As per previous suggestions, would anyone be interested in an offline in Brisbane? Around the 17th, 18th 19th August? I will be in Brisbane and would love to get my wine on and share a couple of great bottles with the Brisbane crowd both regular or 1st timers. Venue to be determined - having been aw...

Re: Where to visit in Rioja.

Well, I did get to Rioja, but with my usual reluctance to book too much in advance I left it quite late and unbeknownst to me got lucky as it appears a large group canceled just before I started looking for accommodation. Anyways my luck did not hold with the winery visits as only C.V.N.E could fit ...

Hahahaha, I know exactly what you mean, apparently sweeter red is popular here. Again my limited knowledge of cyrillic is a problem (and Georgian writing is even harder) so it really is a lucky dip.
