Jamsheed also made a Beechworth Syrah and a Roussanne from the Warner vineyard. Not sure if it's still in the portfolio.

Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight

2002 Pierre Peters Chetillons. First of a six pack. This for me takes champagne to a new level. Honey, peach, chalky mineral spine without a distracting acid hit, in other words perfectly in balance. Both broad and long, if that makes sense. I can’t imagine it getting better than now. Based on the ...

Bit of a Katnook theme with grb2001 and other halves yesterday (a quiet lunch   ). '10 Katnook Amara and Caledonian '09 Katnook Cabernet and Caledonian All developing nicely, particularly the '10 Amara I had the 10 Amara in the last 6 months and I thought it still too primary and oaky.

Re: A brief Willamette Valley trip report

I cannot recommend these wines enough, the top single vineyard bottlings coming in around $70. If there are any Australian importers reading, I would strongly and selfishly recommend picking these up in your portfolio. Is that $70 USD? Because that works out to $150 give or take landed cost without...

Re: Manadala Yarra Valley Shiraz 2016

Unless it's Amarone, almost anything over 15% is something I have avoided for quite some time now. Not Amarone Mahmoud. The wine tastes OK, just not like a cool climate Shiraz. If it was in a blind tasting you would probably say it is a warm climate South Australian Shiraz. This implies that Yarra ...

Seems awfully young for a Cabernet to have aged so much.

2007 chateau st jean Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon
Lots of tertiary characters such as leather, old books, mushroom, earth and still holding its mostly black fruit

Tannins not quite silky but not resolved. Reasonable length for what is a pretty inexpensive wine in the scheme of things.

I subscribed as a life time membership 10 years ago, after this new update my subscription will end in 2038..I’m only in my mid 30’s ,they predicted I will die after that?! 2038 is when Unix time ends. There is a chance it will end up being like the Y2k bug. Still plenty of time for everyone to ign...

Haha apologies to all those that thought there was a deal on BL. I was talking about the similar but not really the same product Redav was offered.

I was surprised that as a Coles label punters corner was available (albeit back vintages) from Dan's.

You can get back vintages 2008 from their competition. Current vintage is showing at $12 at the Coles warehouse shop, $22 at the premium shop and $30 at the cheap and cheerful attached to supermarket shop.
Go figure.

This almost tempted me to open some of my 11s but I think it can wait.

I did have a 10 Cabernet Merlot from Cape Naturalist that was starting to age quicker then I expected but the straight Cabernet from the same producer was fine.

Looking at the two long lists Woolies has blocks of similar names with gates, cockatoos, golden things and twos repeated a number of times.

Good to see Coles has some French labels.

If the winery address is suburban Melbourne or Sydney then is from Coles or Woolies. Easy to check and avoid. Same goes for beer.
