Re: How best to enjoy a 1975 Château Rieussec Sauternes?
Thanks both Paul and Hacker for your advice. With a 750ml bottle I would be tempted to serve some at the beginning of the dinner with some good quality pate, and then more at the end with a cheese plate or dessert. Yep that's how I'm leaning. We'll be drinking it in a caravan park at the South Coast...

How best to enjoy a 1975 Château Rieussec Sauternes?
I have a 750ml bottle of 1975 Château Rieussec Sauternes which I plan to share soon with my wife and brother, who are both 1975 vintage. I have very little experience drinking Sauturnes of any age, and none of drinking such an aged specimen, so thought I'd ask a couple of questions, as I know the...

Re: The Top 5 Producers/Wineries in Your Cellar Are...
Great thread, tempted me out of lurkerdom. Listing a top 6, as the gap between 5 and 6 is not great. Penfolds 12.8% Clonakilla 9.7% Hoddles Creek 5.7% Wynns Coonawarra Estate 5.3% McWilliam's Mount Pleasant Wines 4.4% Tyrrell's 4.0% I have a hugely scattergun approach to cellaring wine I would rathe...

Re: List Your Best Wines of 2013
2003 Tahbilk 1927 Vines Marsanne - Again, surprisingly fresh and vital. Oak was barely noticeable until the wine warmed significantly in the glass. A real moreish wine, honeysuckle and apple, years ahead of it. So good I went back to the bottle shop after a glass to buy the rest of the bottles in s...

Re: List Your Best Wines of 2013
Hey Avid, How was the 94 Grange? I have one in the cellar Entering its prime I think. Extract from my note follows: Decanted for three hours, then drank over seven. Though sampled a splash after popping the cork. First impression was the way it assaulted my entire tongue with a wall of flavour, sec...

Re: List Your Best Wines of 2013
Long time lurker, first time poster, who loves lists and hence couldn't resist. That said, I'll try to keep it brief. White Of The Year 2005 Tyrrell's Stevens Semillon. Yum, will get better, but if you several stashed, worth a look now Red Of The Year 1994 Grange for my birthday Honourable Mentions ...
