Harry & Frankie in port melbourne is great. $15 corkage on any bottle they have which are reasonably priced and quite a good selection.

Thanks all for your speedy replies. Catchnrelease- thanks for your suggestions. Have you tried either of the Seville estate or last horizon? Be interested in your tasting notes if you have. TriggerK- yes both the hoddles creek chard and pinot would have been at the top of my list but having trouble ...

Wine for mates wedding

Hi forumites, I have been asked to do the honourable task of selecting wines for my mates wedding in byron bay in March. Below is what he has requested... The three courses are: 1. Garden (veg dish with a cream base) - Paired with Riesling 2. Sea (scampi with crustacean mayonnaise) - Paired with a C...

Damn! I'll be in Europe at the time. There hasn't been an offline here for a while now.. Hope it works out well. We have had a few offlines at the moat in the city, opposite melbourne central station. Really nice food and usually cost about $60 a head. Softie usually organises them but I think he mi...

My partner and I are in Europe for Oktoberfest this year and I have managed to negotiate a stop in piedmont for two nights on our way through Italy to France. Can't believe these are going for $166 on Langtons at present! That's crazy! I've been overseas, have I missed the boat due to the hype or do some places in Melbourne still...

Thought I'd take one for the team 2011 xanadu stevens rd cabernet Pristine cabernet aromas leaping out of the glass, with amazing violet characters dominating. Medium bodied and very well balanced. The tannins are ripe but surprisingly quite soft and of medium length. Overall, I think the wine has p...
